Head-on crash sends 3 to hospital

TOWN OF SHERMAN, NY (WIVB) – On Saturday at 2:32 a.m. the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and Sherman fire department responded to a two-car head-on accident.

The Sheriff’s office reports that the  investigation has shown that Dakota Bird, 19, was driving South on Pelton Rd. while Ronald Miller, 21, was driving North on the same road.

The two vehicles collided head-on causing extensive damage to both vehicles.  Both Bird and Miller had to be extricated from their vehicles.

Bird was taken by ambulance to Westfield Hospital, where he was airlifted by Starflight to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.  Miller was flown from the scene to Hamot Medical Center by Stat Medivac.

One passenger riding with Miller, 20 year- old Stephany Cloutier, was also transported to Hamot Medical Center by ambulance. The second passenger riding with Miller, 20 year-old Robert Gilbert, was not injured.

Bird is in critical condition at Hamot, while Miller and Cloutier remain at Hamot, but their condition are not known.

Charges are pending, at the conclusion of the reconstruction report and toxicology reports.
