INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WIVB) – With linebacker a potential need for the Bills in the draft, Kiko Alonso’s versatility could give them some options.
While Alonso put together an outstanding rookie season at middle linebacker, that doesn’t mean he is staying there for good.
“He’s got the skill-set to excel at any of the three linebacker positions,” said Bills GM Doug Whaley. “One thing that would maybe help him, because of his frame, it would probably help him not being able to take on those offensive linemen as frequently, so he might be a little more productive.”
As for which position Whaley might prefer to see Alonso line up in, the GM said that’s not his call.
“I have to leave that up to the coaches. I just prefer him on the field, because I know if he’s on the field, he’s going to make something happen,” said Whaley.
