Pair arrested following bar fight, one claimed to be a cop

VARYSBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two men were arrested following a fight with staff at the Lodge at Hidden Valley in Varysburg on Saturday.

State Police say 35-year-old Nathan Steinmetz and 43-year-old Walter Rogacki, both of Arcade, were asked to leave the premises after a minor altercation, but instead of leaving, both men went back into the bar and started fighting with staff. One of the men even claimed to be a police officer, troopers say.

Officers detained the pair and determined it was Steinmetz who had lied about being a cop. He was charged with second degree criminal impersonation and disorderly conduct.

Rogacki allegedly shoved a staff member. He is charged with second degree harassment and disorderly conduct.

Both are due back in court at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
