Man allegedly approaches teen boy in Orchard Park

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Orchard Park School District Superintendent is warning families about  a man who approached a teenage boy Saturday morning on Larned Lane. In a letter to parents on the district’s website, the superintendent shared information about the incident from police.

The district reports that a man approached a teen and asked him if he needed help and then asked him to enter his vehicle. The boy did not enter the vehicle and safely returned home.

The suspect was reported to be a white male, in his 60s, with white hair that was balding. The suspect was reportedly driving  a red mini-van with several scratches.

The district says they have notified their transportation employees about the incident. The district also shared some safety tips with parents, that can be reviewed with children.

Tips:

– Never talk to strangers or engage them in conversation

– Leave the area and get to a secure location (home, neighbor’s home)

– Report the incident immediately to a parent or known adult (parent should report incident immediately to the Orchard Park Police at 662-6444).
