BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – While Ryan Miller is the biggest name the Sabres could part with before the trade deadline, Steve Ott sounds like the most likely piece to be traded.
Sabres GM Tim Murray said tonight, Ott is generating a lot of interest in trade talks. While Murray also said, Ott is exactly the type of player he likes to acquire instead of trade away, this situation might force his hand.
“Steve Ott is the type of player I’ve looked for for 21 years… that’s not the type of player I want to trade away, that’s the type of players I want to bring in,” said Murray. “He’s at his age, and he’s an unrestricted free agent.”
Murray said, overall he’s had talks with seven or eight GM’s, involving up to a dozen players. So far, he hasn’t gotten into specifics on any potential trade possibility, with the NHL trade deadline looming Wednesday, March 5th.
