Former Sabres president to run for school board

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Former Buffalo Sabres president Larry Quinn is running for the Buffalo Board of Education.

Quinn made his announcement Wednesday afternoon, saying that children have the skills to learn but there are other issues getting in the way of a proper education.

“It was always the Board of Education holds us back, we have a weak superintendent who doesn’t lead, we have a union-central office that won’t seek control to manage our schools,” he said.

Quinn joins a crowded field of well-known candidates that includes former Buffalo mayoral candidates Bernie Tolbert and Sergio Rodriguez. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
