MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – The legislature in Chautauqua County voted Wednesday night to sell the Chautauqua County Home.

Last year, county lawmakers failed to reach a two-thirds supermajority when trying to sell the nursing home to William Rothner of Altitude Health Services. At the time, then county executive Greg Edwards stated the nursing home was losing $9,000 every day.

But since then, the legislature underwent downsizing, and Wednesday, county lawmakers approved the sale to VestraCare for $16 million in a 13 to 5 vote.
