State to preserve benefits for food stamp users

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – There is relief for the thousands of western New Yorkers who rely on food stamps. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the state will step in and preserve almost a half billion dollars in benefits that would otherwise be cut by the new federal farm bill.

The bill was expected to slash benefits by an average of $127 a month, per household.
