UB holds off Ohio to extend MAC East lead

ATHENS, Ohio (WIVB) – UB opened up a huge lead in the first half, then held off Ohio’s big charge in the second half for a key MAC East win Wednesday night, 69-64.

The Bulls, who led by 15 points at the half, had four of their five starters reach double figures in points.  Javon McCrea scored a team-high 15 points to lead the way.

Nick Kellogg paced the Bobcats with 18.

The Bulls now have a stranglehold on first place in the MAC East, with a two-game lead over both Ohio and Akron, who lost to Miami (OH) tonight. UB hosts Miami (OH) this Saturday at noon.
