Two local stars are among the six finalists for “Mr. Basketball” honors in New York.
Olean’s Wil Bathurst and Williamsville North’s Sterling Taplin are on the list, along with Isaiah Whitehead (Lincoln), Khadeen Carrington (Bishop Loughlin), Emmitt Holt (Webster Schroeder), and Dontay Caruthers (Rochester East).
The award, given annually to the top player in New York, will be given out in March.
Taplin’s high school career came to an end this week in Sectionals, but Bathurst’s Olean squad is still alive. The Huskies will play for the Class B-1 sectional title Saturday at 1:45pm at Buffalo State.
