Effort underway for creation of second Elmwood historic district

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – An effort is underway to get the Elmwood Historic District (East) listed on the state and national registers of historic places.

The Elmwood Village Association and Preservation Buffalo Niagara announced Thursday they will host a community meeting in March to talk about possible effects on people living in the area.

The plan developed after the successful creation of the Elmwood Historic District (West) in 2012. Organizers say the designation allows property owners to take advantage of tax credits.

The date, time and location of the meeting have not yet been announced.
