Concealed shotgun ends in felony plea

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB)-A 20-year-old man from Buffalo’s west side pleaded guilty in State Supreme Court to felony criminal possession of a weapon, the highest charge he could have been convicted of had he gone to trial.

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III says that Mark Hawkins a/k/a Marcus Coleman of 14th Street exited a corner store in November of 2013, when Buffalo Police Officers noticed a long object tucked down the length of his pants. Sedita says Hawkins pretended to be walking with a peg leg but police found a loaded pump action shotgun inside his pant leg.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 20, 2014. Hawkins is facing a maximum prison term of seven years. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
