Tractor trailer crash closes I-90 West during commute

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Friday morning was another tough commute for some drivers in western New York.

A portion of the westbound Thruway reopened around 9 a.m. Friday, after a tractor trailer crash closed it during the morning commute. In the included Report It photo from Mike Bradley, you can see the tractor trailer crash that caused five miles of backups. The crash happened near Exit 48 A.

Several major roadways had backups throughout the morning. There were reports of accidents and backups on I-190, I-290, Route 33, Route 5 and several ramps. Congestion started to clear on major roadways around 9 a.m.
