BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – An investigation led by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force led to a raid at a home in Buffalo.
Since last November, investigators have been working to determine how heroin was getting to Salamanca and Olean. Authorities say they uncovered a complex drug organization that ultimately led them to a home on West Delevan Street in the Queen City.
On Wednesday, officers raided the home and found 591 grams of heroin, which has an estimated value of more than $50,000. In addition, $70,000 in cash was seized.
Authorities say as a result of their investigation, Steven Martinez, Jeffery Coleman, Tomas Figueroa, Julio Sanchez and Elias Figueroa are facing federal charges of conspiracy to distribute in excess of 1,000 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing heroin.
The defendants were arraigned on Friday and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal Service without bail.
Investigators say more arrests are anticipated.
