NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – There was a changing of the guard at the 914th Airlift Wing Saturday.
Air Force Reserve Col. Steven B. Parker assumed command from Col. Walter Gordon, who is retiring after 30 years of military service.
The new man in charge, Colonel Parker, most recently served as Commander of the 340th Flying Training Group at the Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph AFB, Texas.
Col. Parker is a graduate of the Air Force Academy and a Command Pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours in fighter and trainer aircraft including combat missions in Operation Southern Watch.
Parker takes the reins for a base that supports over 3,000 airmen and soldiers. The Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station is the largest employer in Niagara County with an annual economic impact in excess of $140 million.
