Man killed in Town of Concord car accident

TOWN OF CONCORD, NY (WIVB) – A Saturday night crash has resulted in the death of a 32 year-old man from southern Erie County.

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday the man was operating a small car southbound on Route 240 in the Town of Concord.

Witnesses stated to Deputies that the victim’s car veered to the right side of the south bound lane and then across the roadway into the north bound lane. The victim’s vehicle was then struck broadside by a pickup truck, sending the man’s vehicle into a ditch.

Several motorists stopped and attempted to assist the man, who was trapped in the car. Members of the East Concord Fire Company extricated the victim and he was transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville, where he died a short time later.

This investigation is continuing. At the time of the collision the roadway was wet from falling snow but had not become snow covered. The initial investigation has determined that the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
