BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The trial has begun for a man accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl in Buffalo. Jury selection got underway Monday in the case of 21-year-old Darshawn Morris.

Prosecutors say he raped and fatally stabbed 13-year-old Lanesha Rollerson, after she attended a party at his apartment on Hagen Street last year. Morris lived there with his wife.

Rollerson’s family reported her missing and then her body was found behind a garage near Morris’ home.

Morris pleaded not guilty, but investigators say at the time of his arrest, he did confess to killing her.
