FREDONIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Dunkirk man is going to prison for his role in the fatal shooting of a 72-year-old man.

A judge sentenced Christopher Grant to spend 20 months to five years behind bars on Monday. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Frank Slate, Jr. Slate was shot and killed at his home in Fredonia in 2012.

Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley said, “We agreed on a plea of a sentence of 20 months to five years based on a couple of factors. Number one, none of the evidence suggested that Mr. Grant was the shooter. Secondly, he cooperated with the prosecution against Mr. Wickham.”

Grant’s co-defendant, Theodore Wickhamand, has also pleaded guilty to manslaughter. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
