AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Plans are moving forward to honor the life of an Amherst teenager.

The Amherst Town Board has agreed to give a quarter-acre of land for a skate park in memory of Alix Rice. The park will be built at the Northtown Center.

Rice was struck and killed while riding her longboard on Heim Road in 2011. The driver, Dr. James Corasanti, served jail time for DWI.
