WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – State Police arrested an 18-year-old woman on the NYS Thruway they say had taken a vehicle without the permission of its owner.
Troopers were told to be on the lookout for a black 2006 Volkswagen Passat driving westbound on the I-90 on Tuesday. Using a ping from the suspect’s cell phone, State Police were able to determine Angela Lavallo of Broadalbin was approaching West Seneca.
When the vehicle reached the Lackawanna toll barrier, officers pulled the 18-year-old woman over and placed her under arrest on charges of third degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
She was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,500 bail.
The vehicle was returned to its owner, a 48-year-old woman who lives in Broadalbin, which is a town northwest of Albany.
