NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two men were arrested after venturing into an area closed to the public in Niagara Falls State Park.

Park Police got a call just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday that two men were in a closed section of Terrapin Point. The entire area is covered in ice and was closed to the public because of the dangerous conditions.

A photo from a parks employee that was taken below the Cave of the Winds shows the extensive ice coverage and a man out on the ice.

Officers arrived and took both men into custody. They were later released on bail.

Visitors to the parks are reminded to stay out of closed areas. Police say this situation could have easily turned into a tragedy.
