Man convicted of luring boy into home, assault

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A nine-year-old boy was walking his dog at the time of a horrific assault in 2012. Now, a man could face up to 25 years to life in prison.

A sex offender from Washington State has been convicted of a predatory sexual assault against a child in an abandoned house on Howard Street, in Buffalo. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 51-year-old Virgil Brown was found guilty after 15 minutes of jury deliberations.

The DA’s Office says a nine-year-old boy was walking his puppy, when he was lured into the house and raped. This happened in September, 2012.

It was not admissible as evidence in his trial, but Brown is a registered sex offender from Washington. In 2007 he was released on parole after serving a 12-year sentence for forcible rape of another juvenile.

He could face a maximum prison sentence of 25 years to life when he is sentenced in April.
