19-year-old accused of murdering man, setting home on fire


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 19-year-old man pleaded not guilty in Buffalo City Court on Saturday to murdering Brian Dombek before lighting his Sirret Street home on fire.

Late Tuesday night, police called fire crews to the scene after seeing flames coming from the home.

Dombek and his dog, Princess were found dead inside. An autopsy by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office reveals he was beat to death. Fire investigators also determined the blaze was intentionally set.

After police questioned neighbors about the deadly fire, police they narrowed down a suspect: David Meyers of Buffalo. While questioning him on Friday, detectives say he admitted to some things regarding to what took place Tuesday night.

Some of Dombek’s neighbors hope justice is served for the 52 year old.

“I’m glad that they found somebody. I hope they found the right person. I just hope they get brought to justice” said Amparo Coble of Buffalo.

Meyers is being held without bail. His felony hearing is set for March 13th.
