PERRY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A traffic stop in Wyoming County on Thursday led to the driver being charged with DWAI by drugs and the passenger being arrested on drug possession charges.

Deputies pulled 27-year-old Jordan McMurtry over after they say she ran a stop sign at South Center Street and South Main Street in the Village of Perry. McMurtry is said to have failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWAI by drugs.

Her passenger, 36-year-old Kris Ruda, had an open beer, according to deputies. A search found she also allegedly had six bags of heroin, a hypodermic syringe, a marijuana pipe, and other pieces of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on charged of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, unlawful possession of marijuana, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Both women were released to a third party and are due back in court next month.
