Pair who stole goods from BJ’s flee, crash into two vehicles

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities say two men who allegedly stole items from BJ’s Wholesale Club fled in a vehicle and struck a moving vehicle and a parked car before fleeing on foot.

Amherst Police were called to the Sheridan Drive store shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday on report of a larceny. An employee saw the two men leave the store with stolen merchandise and gave officers the vehicle’s description and license plate number.

Detectives went to the address the vehicle was registered to and a short time later, the two men arrived. When officers tried to speak to the suspects, they say they got back in their car and sped off.

Police pursued and the suspect’s vehicle struck a moving vehicle and a parked car before stopping. After stopping, the suspects fled the scene on foot.

With the help of Buffalo Police, one suspect was taken into custody. Detectives say the stolen merchandise was found in the back of the vehicle.

Charges are pending against the suspect who was caught. His name has not been released.
