Kennedy pushes for bill to create utility watchdog

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State Senator Tim Kennedy (D), is pushing legislation in the Senate to create an independent utility watchdog.

The watchdog, called the Utility Consumer Advocate, would fight for utility customers during rate-setting and regulatory proceedings. Kennedy is cosponsoring the legislation in the Senate. He says it will give families, seniors and small businesses a voice to help keep utility costs in check and to fight for lower rates.
