Cuomo wants to give lift to ski resorts

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to give a lift to ski resorts across New York. He’s hoping to do that by steering the state into the tour bus business.

Cuomo says the state will launch bus service next winter from New York City to 13 upstate ski areas, and from Toronto to six others, including Kissing Bridge, Holiday Valley and Peek n’ Peak.

The governor isn’t saying how much the state will invest in this service or how much tickets will cost, but he says the goal here is to make New York’s ski areas more competitive, by making them easier and cheaper to get to from major metro areas. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
