Bills release Kevin Kolb

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Bills cut ties with quarterback Kevin Kolb today, releasing the veteran after he failed a physical.

Kolb missed all of last season with a concussion, suffered in a preseason game against Washington. The Bills originally signed him to compete for the starting job with rookie EJ Manuel, but the concussion ended the competition before the regular season ever started.

Bills GM Doug Whaley said last month, he was being very cautious with Kolb, waiting to get a full medical report before making a decision. With the “failed physical” designation, it appears Whaley got his answer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
