BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – It was an emotional scene in Niagara Square Tuesday night as friends and family gathered to remember a murdered little boy, on what would have been his sixth birthday.
Instead of joy and celebration there were tears and sadness for Eain Brooks. The little boy was sexually assaulted and beaten to death last September. His body was discovered in the basement of his mother’s home in Buffalo.
“Today is not a day of mourning Eain. Today is a day we are celebrating his life. He was given to us six years ago today,” said Eain’s grandmother, Robin Hart. “He will always be here, in our hearts, in our memory and we’re going to keep reminding people that he was here and the abuse has to stop.”
Eain’s death was one of several high profile cases that triggered major changed within Erie County Child protective Services.
His mother’s boyfriend, Matthew Kuzdzal is charged with his murder. Kuzdzal is set to go on trial later this year.
