BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – News 4 has learned that it was a state plow that struck at least five parked cars February 2 on Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo.
Susan Surdej, a spokesperson for New York State Department of Transportation, confirmed a Buffalo Police investigation determined one of their drivers was involved in the accident. The plow driver did not stop, leave a note, or contact police about the incident. But the yellow left on the vehicles made it unmistakable that they were damaged by a plow.
Surdej said an internal investigation will now begin. She told News 4 that no action has been taken against the driver at this point.
The drivers affected now need to file claims with the state by calling 847-3173. Those claims will be reviewed by the Office of General Services and the Attorney General’s office. The DOT will not directly handle the final claim determinations.
At the time of the incident, Buffalo Police used GPS and surveillance video to determine whether a city plow was involved.
