BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The boards are about to come off a stretch of buildings that thousands of people drive by every day.

Schneider Development purchased 285 to 295 Niagara Street, which is right off the 190, and plans to turn the eyesore into retail space and up to 40 apartments with a rooftop deck.

The buildings date back to 1848 and they’re on the National Register of Historic Places. Construction is expected to start late this summer.

The new apartments should be move-in ready by the summer of 2015.
