Home health care aid accused of victimizing 98-year-old woman

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A home health care aid has been arrested and charged with victimizing a 98-year-old Cheektowaga woman.

Police say Gayle Fagan entered the victim’s home on Frederick Street on March 2nd and 3rd while pretending to be there for a visit. But according to authorities, her true intention was to steal 45 hydrocodone pills.

Authorities say 35-year-old Cheektowaga woman is a home health care aid with Mcauley Seton, but was not meant to be at the victim’s home in March. Her last visit was in October 2013.

The victim only speaks Polish, and police say Fagan was able to use her lack of understanding to get into the home. Cheektowaga Police Detective John Skonecki speaks Polish and was able to work with the victim to identify Fagan.

She is facing charges of burglary, criminal possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny. Police report she has been fired from Mcauley Seton.

Police are now investigating to determine if Fagan is responsible for similar crimes in Western New York. If you have any information, contact your local police department.
