Many venture out in blizzard conditions

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two blizzards in one year? “Crazy” is what many Buffalonians are calling this bizarre blizzard phenomenon.

“They should have closed down the whole city. It’s too cold for anyone to be outside,” Timothy Dozier said.

Some chose to be outside during this “Blizzard 2.0″ and some might call their reasons crazy.

“I’m actually going to do laundry right now,” Michael Thomas said.

When asked if that’s essential during a blizzard, he responded, “Absolutely. I don’t have any clothes.”

Maurine Echols said she left the house because she got cabin fever.

Mayor Byron Brown issued a travel advisory.

“If you don’t have to drive, if you don’t have to travel, stay home,” the mayor said.

And some people really didn’t have a choice.

“I got to go to work!” was the answer several people gave when asked why they are out in the storm.

Some construction workers even took advantage of the empty streets.

“Yeah it’s a lot better because we don’t need to worry about people poking their nose in or getting in our way and things like that,” said Mark Glomb from Lehigh Construction.

Others are shrugging off this winter storm and enjoying their snow day.

“An adult snow day,” one man called it.

“Walk the dog, grab a movie, sit at home and relax,” Doug Hall said.

“I am about to celebrate our employer location closing early, and I’m going to get some lunch,” Carly Kennedy said.

But those who are fed up with this weather might be staying inside for a while.

“It’s very cold. I’m going in the house and I’m not coming back out!” Dozier said.
