BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The jury will continue deliberating on Friday the fate of a Buffalo man accused of stabbing a 13-year-old girl to death last year.
DarShawn Morris is currently on trial for second degree murder, rape and criminal sexual assault. He is accused of killing 13-year-old Lanasha Rollerson, whose body was found behind a garage near his home.
Rollerson had attended a house party without her family’s knowledge. Police say Morris raped her then fatally stabbed the teen. Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda says Morris confessed to the killing.
A jury spent much of Thursday determining Morris’s guilt, but did not reach a decision by 4:30 p.m. At one point, jurors requested a portion of the testimony be read back.
Deliberations will continue on Friday.
