RALEIGH, N.C. (WIVB) – Sabres goaltender Michal Neuvirth turned away 51 shots, but picked up the loss in a 4-2 win for the Hurricanes.

Carolina out-shot Buffalo 55-to-23 on the night.

Tyler Ennis opened the scoring on a penalty shot for his 17th goal of the season, only to see Jeff Skinner tie the game late in the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Drew Stafford found the net in the third to give Buffalo the lead once again. Carolina tied the game when Alexander Semin’s shot deflected off Sabres defenseman Mike Weber and into the net. Less than two minutes later, Jiri Tlusty gave the Hurricanes their first lead of the night.

Former Sabre Nathan Gerbe added an empty-netter for his 14th goal of the season to preserve the win.

Alex Sulzer left the game early in the third for Buffalo with an upper body injury and did not return.
