Teen accused of killing man, setting fire appears in court

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A teenager accused of killing a man and his dog in South Buffalo appeared in court Thursday morning.

Nineteen-year-old David Meyers pleaded not guilty to murdering 52-year-old Brian Dombek. He was in court Thursday, where he waived his felony hearing. The case will now go to a grand jury.

Authorities found Dombek and his German Shepherd both dead after his house went up in flames on Sirret Street last week.

Police became suspicious and began investigating the fire as a homicide. They arrested Meyers days later.

Detectives have not offered any possible motives in this case.
