SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The New York State Fair has a new operator for its midway for the next decade.
Acting State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball says Wade Shows of Livonia, Mich., has been selected to take over operations from James E. Strates Shows of Orlando, Fla.
Wade Shows provides midway attractions for more state fairs than any other operator in the United States, including some of the most highly attended agricultural fairs in the country.
New rides, including at least one of the two largest portable roller coasters in the country, will be coming to the 2014 New York State Fair, and Wade Shows food stands cook only with trans-fat-free oils. Gluten-free stands will also be available.
The fair runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1 just outside Syracuse.
