Boil water advisory issued for part of Oakfield

water boil order main break

OAKFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) – Genesee County Emergency Management has issued a boil water advisory for homes that use wells at the corner of Batavia-Oakfield Townload Road and Rt. 63 in Oakfield.

Water samples have detected that wells in that area may be contaminated with manure. But health officials say the extent of the contamination is unknown, and therefore are recommending that homes in that area either boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking.

If your water changes color or smell, contact the Genesee County Health Department at 585-344-2580 ext. 5525.
