ECMC and its employees collects gifts for at-risk moms

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County Medical Center and its employees have been collecting baby items and financial donations all week to benefit the United Way of Buffalo.

The items will be given to new moms and mothers-to-be considered to be at-risk. The charity hopes that the gifts will help give newborns and their moms support for a healthy beginning.

ECMC CEO Jody Lomeo said, “We talk a great deal at ECMC about family and we talk about taking caring of one another. And I’m so proud of our employees and all the members of our family who have taken time, energy, resources to care for others less fortunate than them.”

Distribution will be handled by several community groups, including Catholic Charities. Other baby gifts can be donated through April 8th. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
