NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) – There are questions about the long-term future of the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane, which has laid off 15 people since the beginning of January.
A spokesperson says the hospital is looking “for ways to operate more efficiently” and categorizes the layoffs as something all hospitals in Western New York are doing.
But News 4 spoke to Timothy Horanberg, Newfane Town Supervisor, who said “the writing is on the wall” for the hospital closing. Horanberg says officials have been slowly pulling services from the hospital, and in fact, there were four more layoffs on Friday
There will be a planning meeting next week to discuss the future of the hospital in Newfane.
