SHELDON, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man charged last year with fleeing police in Wyoming County and making meth in the woods in Genesee County was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant.

Ricky Leach, 33, was wanted on charges of fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property and third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He was turned over to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office to face charges in Sheldon.

The incident happened in July, when Leach and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Jessica Ring, allegedly refused to stop their vehicle. Eventually, they drove into an overgrown field where police say jumped out while it was still in motion and fled into a creek bed and into a culvert. Deputies took them into custody when they came out the other side. The vehicle ended up in a ravine.

The following month, Leach and Ring were again arrested after State Police found them in the woods near a Target store in Batavia making meth.

Leach is currently being held in the Wyoming County Jail on $500 bail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
