BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 69-year-old man is in fair condition after blowing off part of his hand in an explosion Thursday afternoon.
The ATF, FBI, Erie County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Buffalo Police were called to a home on Condon Avenue around 4 p.m. after a small explosion inside. Officers say the resident lost fingers on one of his hands in the explosion and was badly bleeding.
Investigators swept the home for any additional explosive and say they found a military-style smoke grenade. Neighbors tell News 4 the man is a Vietnam veteran.
At this time, police have not filed any charges, but the investigation continues.
