BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man with a history of robbery and burglary arrests has pleaded guilty to robbing a Riverside woman at gunpoint last year.

In January 2012, Richard Newman forced his way into the woman’s home and stole the victim’s wallet at gunpoint. The 34-year-old Tonawanda man pleaded guilty to first degree burglary on Friday.

Newman has prior convictions for third degree robbery, third degree attempted robbery, and third degree burglary. As a second felony offender, he is facing a minimum of eight years behind bars when he is sentenced in April.

His girlfriend, 29-year-old Jessica Wozniak of Depew, pleaded guilty Friday to fifth degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. Prosecutors say she planned to supply Newman with suboxone while he was incarcerated at the Erie County Correctional Facility.

She will be sentenced in May. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
