Alleged drunk driver hits car that was stopped for school bus

ALLEGANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 27-year-old Allegany man was charged with DWI after crashing into a vehicle that was stopped behind a school bus.

Deputies say Dustin Cooney was driving on 4 Mile Road in Allegany on March 11 when he allegedly passed a vehicle before re-entering the driving lane and crashing into the back of a vehicle that had stopped for a school bus that had its red lights activated.

The incident happened at 8:00 in the morning.

Cooney is charged with passing unsafely, following too closely, unlicensed operator, and driving while intoxicated.

He is due back in court at a later date.
