DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) – A co-defendant is going to prison for the fatal shooting of a 73-year-old man.
A judge sentenced 46-year-old Theodore Wickham of Dunkirk to one- to nine-years in prison on Monday. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Frank Slate, Jr.
Slate was shot and killed at his home in Fredonia in 2012.
Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley said, “His indication was that he intended not to hit him but to scare him but obviously he was impacted by a bird shot load.”
Wickham’s co-defendant, 28-year-old Christopher Grant, also pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He was sentenced to 20 months to five years behind bars earlier this month.
