Items dangling from rear view mirror lead to multiple charges

ATTICA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo woman was arrested in Wyoming County over the weekend after being pulled over for having items dangling for her rear view mirror.

Attica Police initiated the traffic stop on Exchange Street around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday after seeing the hanging items and determining they obstructed the driver’s view. Officers say 38-year-old Amy Velazquez was behind the wheel, even though her license has been suspended six times.

Velazquez was previously arrested for DWI and her license was revoked when she refused a breath test. And as a result of that prior DWI arrest, she was required to have an ignition interlock device installed in her vehicle, which police say she did not have.

Police placed her under arrest on charges of second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, no interlock device, and having an obstructed view.
