Police: Intoxicated snowmobile driver hits vehicle

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling Rt. 430 near Bloomer Rd. early Saturday morning when he observed a snowmobile entering the road and nearly striking a vehicle.

While attempting to stop the snowmobile, the police vehicle was struck by the snowmobile.

The driver of the snowmobile, Michael J. Trippy, was found to be intoxicated.

Trippy was charged with snowmobiling while intoxicated, reckless operation, failure to stop and failure to yield before crossing a highway.  He was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua court and remanded to the Chautauqua jail in lieu of bail.

No one was injured in the accident.
