BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – With both goalies injured, the Sabres had to make another emergency call to Rochester today, bringing Matt Hackett along for the road trip.
Hackett joins Nathan Lieuwen, who made his NHL debut Sunday night in relief of the injured Jhonas Enroth. Enroth did not travel with the Sabres to Calgary, and tweeted out a picture of himself wearing a large air-cast on his leg today.
Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth is also banged up at the moment, which is why the Sabres need both Hackett and Lieuwen.
With Buffalo heading out on a five-game road trip, Enroth is one of several players staying behind to nurse injuries. Zemgus Girgensons, Chris Stewart, Alex Sulzer, and Tyler Myers stayed in Buffalo as well – although Sabres interim Head Coach Ted Nolan left open the possibility that Myers could return during the road trip.
Buffalo takes on Calgary Tuesday night at 9pm, followed by a trip to Edmonton for a Thursday matchup.
