Around 250 marijuana plants found inside home

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies responded to a report of a woman being assaulted at a home on Grand Island and say they instead found a large marijuana grow operation.

Monday night, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home and found evidence of a suspected marijuana grow operation. After obtaining a search warrant, the narcotics unit entered the residence and found around 250 marijuana plants and a large amount of harvested marijuana.

Thirty-three-year-old Matthew Lazzaro was taken into custody and charged with felony second degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful growing of cannabis.

He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
