No jail for man who was growing marijuana in his home

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man caught with more than 100 marijuana plants inside his Jamestown home will not spend any time in prison.

Patrick Silk was sentenced Tuesday to time served and five years probation for third degree criminal possession of marijuana. In November 2012, officers raided the 50-year-old’s home on Lafayette Street and uncovered the marijuana grow operation as well as two pounds of dried marijuana, a quantity of cocaine, and two long guns.

He originally faced additional charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, but those appear to have been dropped. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
